Web Design & Development

My Experience

I've been working in the art of web design for over ten years now.

My interest in web design started in high school when I made websites for fun on my computer using Microsoft Front Page.  At that time, everything was made in what we call "Design View."  Once I started putting files online instead of simply viewing them on my computer, I realized I would need to take more control and actually learn HTML code to get what I wanted out of my websites.  Learning HTML led to learning CSS.

While going to college, I found it to be pretty strenuous to be a full-time student and part-time employee while also updating my band's website with our ever-growing show schedules.  That is when I discovered the magic of PHP for dynamic content.  I only needed to update text document with all of our show information and my PHP-driven website would make sure it kept our next show in the spotlight at all times.

Though using a text document was good for maintaining basic information on shows, I really wanted to be able to do more with the information: such as cross-referencing bands and past shows.  This led to the use of MySQL database systems.

After using dynamic server-side scripting combined with MySQL databases, I turned to improving the user interface and usability of my sites with dynamic client-side scripting. Namely, jQuery, jQueryUI and AJAX.

As I continue to work in this field and take on new projects I keep learning more and more.  Please, look through some of my past projects and if you have any questions or think I may be able to help you out with your web presence, just let me know.

My Partners

Almost all of my freelance development projects come from references of my friends.  In late 2008, a fellow developer whom I have known since middle school got me involved with his company Train-Ease, Inc out of Columbus, Ohio when they found themselves in need of a solid and fast PHP/MySQL developer who also knows his way around Photoshop.
